On the afternoon of December 13, 2025, a gunman in black stormed into Brown University's Barus and Holley building during a Principles of Economics exam review session. In a moment of unspeakable horror, he opened fire, taking the lives of two bright young students-including Ella Cook, a radiant and devoted Christian, beloved church member, and vice president of the Brown College Republicans-while gravely wounding nine others.

Ella shone brightly as a remarkable young leader, serving with joy and conviction as vice president of the Brown College Republicans-a student full of promise and impact. Tragically, two students lost their lives in an instant: Ella Cook and Mukhammad Aziz Umurzokov, while nine others were gravely wounded. The university canceled all remaining fall semester classes, exams, and projects. Makeshift memorials and candlelight vigils now fill the campus, as a grieving community gathers in sorrow, prayer, and unity.

Ella Cook was a radiant, devoted Christian, joyfully serving and teaching children at Birmingham's Advent Cathedral, shining as Christ's true light. Her pastor called her "an incredible light," echoing John 1:5: "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it." These hopeful young lives were lost in an instant. The university canceled all classes, with memorials and vigils filling the campus as a grieving community unites in prayer. A memorial service for Ella Cook will be held on the 22nd at Advent Cathedral in Birmingham.

Edward: "In Christ's love, I weep with the families of Ella and Mukhammad, especially grateful for Ella's faithful witness. All proceeds from every 'Faith Wins' Ring will go to Young Life and Cru, bringing comfort and strength through faith to college students in tragedy."

Two Students Dead – What Is the Government Doing?

In America, government and school failures have let gun violence rage unchecked, turning campuses into targets. Politicians compromise on gun control; schools ignore lax security. This incompetence costs innocent lives-the shooter still free. How many more tragedies must we endure?

Six days after the Brown University shooting, the gunman is still at large-heartbreaking! Sparse campus cameras, nearly none in Barus and Holley's older sections, hinder the investigation.
